 This
lot and several other original prints from the same collection in this
auction were selected and purchased by Dominique De Menil especially
for members of The Print Club, an original print gallery she opened for
the
patrons of the Institute for the Arts at the University of St. Thomas and
Rice University, both in Houston, Texas. Elizabeth Gates, their current
owner, was an employee of De Menil and purchased them at that time.
No lots in this collection are laid down; all have full margins; and all
appear to be in good condition. Each is signed in pencil by the artist
unless otherwise noted in the catalogue (e.g.. in the stone prior to
printing). The collection to be sold includes two images by Picasso
and one image each by Braque, Calder, Ernst, Goya,
Magritte, Miro, Oldenburg, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Warhol.
