A plaque on the old frame reads "Veronese"; but while the
quality is there, the image
seems later. Certainly by a significant hand of the 1600's or, more likely,
1700's, the
canvas was found in such dirty, almost black condition that the surface required
some
cleaning to help determine the school, date, and quality.
